These are some pictures from the lives and travels of Allison Riffel and Justin Konrad, a couple of fun folks living in Boulder, Colorado. Allison is an environmental engineer and Justin is a musician-turned-lawyer, but we try to spend as much time as possible taking advantage of all the wonderful outdoor adventures Colorado has to offer. Enjoy!

Honeymoon in Kauai - The Rest of the Trip : Although the Na Pali Coast was the highlight of our trip, we did also experience much of the rest of what Kauai has to offer: scuba diving, beachsitting, farmers' markets, more hiking, and - because we're haoles and that's what haoles do - a lovely garden luau at Smith's Tropical Plantation (kind of a garden-themed Disneyworld).

Honeymoon in Kauai - The Na Pali Coast : The centerpiece and most-anticipated part of our honeymoon on the Hawai'ian island of Kauai was a five-day backpack trip down the Na Pali Coast on the famous Kalalau Trail. Rated a 9-out-of-10 by the Sierra Club for difficulty, it was definitely a source of excitement (not to mention some anxiety) beforehand - tales of the crawler's ledge, where the trail is 6" wide with a sheer drop of 500 feet to the ocean, mud pits and massively eroded trail that crumbles under your feet, abound in the guidebooks and on the interwebs. But we did it, and it was easily the most astounding backpacking we've ever done. Hopefully these pics captured at least a little of that feeling.

The Wedding Gallery! : The happy event took place at Cal-Wood Educational Center up near Jamestown, Colorado (in the mountains just outside Boulder) on September 13, 2008. Many, many pictures were taken. These are a fairly random selection of some of the best from Scott (professional photographer) and Ben (soon to be brother-in-law). More will likely be added, and I'm sure we'll edit these. But for the time being, a taste of what the day was like. Mazel tov!

Aspen Retreat September 2008 : Early September and we set off for Aspen and the annual retreat for Justin's law firm. Sadly, no pictures of the actual meetings are available. We made do with pictures of an incredible hike we did on Sunday morning at the Willis Gulch trail, near Independence Pass and the tiny hamlet of Twin Lakes. Enjoy!

Telluride 2007! : BIG news at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival this year: with a backdrop of the world's greatest bluegrass and newgrass musicians, gorgeous weather, and of course the single most beautiful box canyon in the world, Justin finally got on bended knee and asked Allison to marry him. To the relief of all, she said yes! Much celebrating ensued, including an incongruously lovely French dinner and the single most luxurious hotel room either of us have ever stayed in. The wedding is tentatively set for September 2008... stay tuned...

Eiseman Hut - December 15-17, 2006 : The annual powder pilgrimage to Eiseman Hut this year took place on the first weekend of Hannukah, and was attended by Danno, Mark, Josh, Justin, Nate, Ingrid, Brady & Nicole, Lindsey & Zack, Steve, Christian & Sarah, Dave and Jeremy. We made a backcountry menorah and exchanged gifts, ate an obscene amount of bacon, sampled various varieties of bourbon, scotch and whiskey, and - of course - took advantage of all the deep powder and gorgeous lines that surround the hut. Being on my new AT setup (Mantras and Fritchis), I was in heaven. Thanks, Ullr!

Francie's Cabin - December 2-3, 2006 : Our first hut trip of Winter 2006-2007! With Dan, Mark, Kati S., Ingrid, Katie C., and a host of new friends, we set out for Francie's Cabin, just a few miles outside of Breckenridge. The temperature was low, but we kept things warm with the wood-fired sauna and a birthday celebration into the wee hours. Plus some great touring and turning in the fresh snow; truly an epic beginning to what will (hopefully) be an epic winter.

Halloween at Cabaret Diosa, Oct. 28, 2006 : After a decade of Halloween festivities, Boulder's Cabaret Diosa put on their final show this year. What better way to celebrate our favorite holiday than to dress up as our favorite food, preparty with the RMSpankers at Dan's house, and then head to the Boulder Theater for Cabaret's out-of-this-world production of "Willie Juanka and the Cha Cha Factory," complete with Charo and nearly-nude Oompah-Loompahs.

Alaska, August 12-19, 2006 : Ahhhh...laska! It was too hot in Colorado, so we fled to Alaska for a week of fishing, sea kayaking, backpacking, and more fishing. We stayed with our good friend Ron, a recent transplant to Anchorage, his wonderful friend Lindsay, and pooches Dakota and Wrigley. It rained the entire time, but that didn't stop us - when you're in the water anyway, you're waterproof! The best part? 25 pounds of our fresh-caught ocean Coho Salmon just arrived, frozen, via Fedex. Them's good eats!

Copper Triangle, Aug. 5-6 2006 : On August 5th, Al and Justin rode the inaugural Copper Triangle - an 80-mile roadbike ride that began and ended at Copper Mountain and went over Fremont Pass, Tennessee Pass, and Vail Pass while gaining a total of 5900 vertical feet (ouch). This was all in high-altitude Summit County, no less, so oxygen was at a premium. After surviving (barely), we recuperated on Sunday at the Keystone Beer and Bluegrass Festival.

Rockygrass, July 28-30, 2006 : A Colorado tradition, the Rocky Mountain Bluegrass Festival (or Rockygrass) is held in Lyons, CO at the Planet Bluegrass Fairgrounds each year in late July. Lawyers on the Plateau, March 2006 : In spring semester of 2006, I was lucky enough to participate in Prof. Charles Wilkinson's seminar about legal issues on the Colorado Plateau. This CU Law seminar, led by the incomparable author, historian and lawyer Charles Wilkinson, addressed legal issues relating to Indian law, water law, and public land law. The highlight - not only of the class, but of my entire law school career - was a 10-day field trip to the Colorado Plateau. Charles set up meetings and outings with Indian tribes, non-profit organizations, government entities, and others, allowing us a first-hand experience of seeing how the law interacts with the land. Thank you, Charles!

Agnes Creek Cabin, March 2006 : In early Spring of 2006, we ski toured up to the Agnes Creek Cabin - a backcountry hut located in the Neversummer Wilderness, along the Poudre River in Colorado. The group included Justin and Allison, Josh and Prudence, and Mark and Katie (her first hut trip!). In true Colorado backcountry style, we made fresh turns in the spring corn by day and cooked up gourmet meals at night. Truly mountain living at its finest.
